Foreclosure Mold Prevention
In this photo you can see what can happen to an improperly winterized house. The bank foreclosed on this home and when they sent someone to winterize it he didn’t cap a water pipe properly. The improperly capped pipe leaked very slowly but over the course of months the house flooded, and mold grew everywhere under the humid conditions.
The home needed to be gutted, and treated for mold. This added to the expense of the foreclosure and it took many more months before the home could be sold.
These Tips can help:
- Make sure the water is off.
- Check in on the house frequently.
- An open window on a high floor in Summer can allow venting of excess moisture.
- Moisture is your enemy just because the plumbing is off, doesn’t mean the basement isn’t damp or filling with water, check in on it.
